The death toll has exceeded 3900 in total as a result of the conflict across Israel and Gaza since it began just over a week ago.
An Israeli air strike has left more than 1000 Gaza residents missing in the rubble of buildings. Survivors are still being pulled from the debris more than 24 hours later.
Hospitals in Gaza have become overcrowded and reached capacity as wounded patients are crammed into corridors.
More than 600,000 Gazans have already moved south after Israel warned residents to evacuate the city before attacks. However, the Israeli military continues to urge residents to flee.
The Israeli military reports more than 1300 people have been killed, and a further 3621 injured. While the Gaza health ministry is reporting that 2670 Palestinians have been killed and almost 10,000 are injured as a result from retaliation air strikes from Israel.
There are fears that an anticipated Israeli ground strike on Gaza could cause a spillover and bring Hezbollah and Iran further into the conflict.
Israel’s defence minister Yoav Gallant urged Hezbollah not to get involved threatening a “heavy price” if they choose to do so.
“We have no interest in a war in the north. We don’t want to escalate the situation,” he told reporters yesterday.
“If Hezbollah chooses the path of war, it will pay a very heavy price. Very heavy. But if it restrains itself, we will respect that and keep the situation as it is.”
Cross-border attacks between Lebanon and Israel have also begun as tensions boil over. Hezbollah and Israel have exchanged multiple strikes through rockets and missiles in the past 24 hours.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken today met with leaders of Jordan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain to discuss the prevention of a spillover.
