Billie Eilish ‘nervyyyyy and exciteddd’ ahead of third studio album release

The full album, called 'Hit Me Hard and Soft', will be released on May 17.

No singles will be put out prior to the release of two-time Oscar winner Billie Eilish’s third studio album ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’, according to an announcement on her Instagram.

A press announcement on her website said that the album journeys through a vast audio landscape.

“The album does exactly as the title suggests: hits you hard and soft both lyrically and sonically while bending genres and defying trends along the way,” the announcement said.

Fans started to speculate that something big was happening as the 22-year-old added all her followers to her close friends story, posting cryptic stories indicating an upcoming project.

Eilish also teased the release of the album with several billboards in Sydney, New York, London and more. They consisted of quotes such as “did I cross the line” and “I could change your life”, fans presume these to be lyrics from the new songs. The billboards featured her famous ‘Blohsh’ as the only indication they were connected to the singer.

Eilish then took to Instagram to officially announce the album with an image depicting the singer sinking underwater below an open door. The artist described herself as “nervyyyyy and exciteddd” for the album’s release.

“Finneas and I truly could not be more proud of this album and we absolutely can’t wait for you to hear it,” Eilish wrote. “Love you love you love you.”

Eilish and her brother Finneas found fame after their first song ‘Ocean Eyes’ became popular on SoundCloud in November of 2015  and was officially released as a single exactly a year later.

The duo were the youngest performers to ever win two oscars for best original song, they won the award for their songs ‘No Time To Die’ from the James Bond movie with the same title in 2022 and ‘What Was I Made For’ from Barbie in 2024.

The album will be released in full on May 17.
