Carlton put a dagger in Collingwood’s back-to-back campaign

Carlton keep their finals chances alive with a win over the Eagles.

After a 65-point win over the West Coast Eagles, the Blues now sit in the top eight with one round to play.

Carlton’s skipper Patrick Cripps dominated, finishing with 35 disposals and 10 tackles. Defender Brodie Kemp stood up when the Blues needed him most, kicking four goals.

The Blues were forced to use a makeshift forward line in absence of Harry McKay, Charlie Curnow, Jack Martin, Jack Silvagni and Tom de Koning. Carlton still managed to have 50 marks inside 50 and kick 14 goals for the match.

Interim West Coast coach Jarrad Schofield admits the Eagles “didn’t really turn up” in what was to be Andrew Gaff’s farewell game.

Collingwood’s one point thrilling win over the Lions on Saturday kept their finals dreams alive, but with the Dogs, Hawks and Blues all having dominant wins on Sunday, the Pies premiership defence is now over.

Carlton look forward to their must win round 24 clash against St. Kilda on Sunday at 3:20 AEDT
