Cartoon Movement, an online community of international editorial cartoonists and fans of political satire, was launched on Wednesday 15 December.
They’re on the look-out for high quality editorial cartoonists and comics journalists to ‘bring their unique perspectives to the Cartoon Movement and join our global network’.
The website has kicked off with a comic journalism exclusive based on political cartoonist Matt Bors’ recent (unescorted) tour of Afghanistan with fellow cartoonist Ted Rall.
From Cartoon Movement:
The journalism industry is in transition. It’s clear that the way editorial cartoons are created, commissioned, distributed and consumed is changing. Through this initiative we offer new creative (and collaborative) solutions to ensure that political cartooning can be both accessible and sustainable in the digital age.
From there on in we’ll be publishing timely, political cartoons four times a week. The cartoons are ‘pitched’ by our unique and ever expanding network which currently stands at 65 editorial cartoonists in over 50 countries. We’ll publish the most popular cartoons as decided by a public vote. We expect to run new comic journalism at least once a month.
More information can be found over at their website.
