Hannah Green wins her third LPGA title for 2024

Green held off extreme pressure on the final day to win the championship.

Hannah Green has won the BMW Ladies Championship by one stroke after surviving a late push by Celine Boutier, who finished with five birdies in her last seven holes.

Green started the final day in first, with a two-shot lead after having two eight-under rounds, to take a comfortable lead in the championship. Being one-under after nine, she looked in trouble as Thailand’s Chanettee Wannasaen had an incredible 6-under front nine on the final day to tie for the lead at the turn.

Wannasaen wasn’t Green’s only concern, after Boutier had 31 shots on the back nine to tie for the lead at the start of the 17th. But Green responded, hitting a birdie on 17 to take the lead and then held a two-putt to win the championship.

“I knew I needed to make birdies somewhere but I didn’t think it would be on 17, because that was a pretty difficult pin position,” Green said.

“My putter can be hot and cold just like any other player, and certainly this week it was really hot, so I was just trying to take advantage when things are going well.”

The win secures Green her third title in 2024, making her the first Australian woman since Karrie Webb in 2006 to accomplish the feat. She joins world number one Nelly Korda and number three Lydia Ko as the only women to achieve three wins this year.

It is the second time in a row that an Aussie has finished first in South Korea to take the BMW Championship.
