Israel strikes Beirut and southern Lebanon

The IDF has declared five towns in northern Israel as military zones.

Israel has increased attacks on Lebanon, carrying out strikes on alleged Hezbollah positions in its capital, Beirut and along the southern border. The Lebanese Ministry of Health said on X (formerly Twitter) that at least 10 firefighters were killed in the attacks.

This comes after the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah launched a series of missile attacks on northern Israel last night near the city of Haifa, injuring at least 10.

The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) said on X that over 120 targets were hit in southern Lebanon. Targets allegedly included Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters, rocket arrays and fighters.

“Under the precise intelligence guidance of the Intelligence Division and led by the Northern Command and the Operations Division, 100 Air Force fighter jets attacked for an hour,” the tweet said.

The IDF has also established a new military zone in its northern border towns, Rosh HaNikra, Shlomi, Hanita, Adamit and Arab al Aramsha.

In a statement posted to X, the IDF said civilians are strictly prohibited from entering these towns from 6am this morning until further notice. This military zone is the fourth to be established on the northern border since the IDF began its attack on Lebanon last week.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health estimates over 2,000 people have been killed and 9,869 injured since the beginning of Israel’s limited ground incursion which started over a week ago.
