Lil Tay says account was hacked

Her death was announced on her Instagram account yesterday.

Child rapper Lil Tay has reportedly said her Instagram account, which posted a statement claiming that she was dead, was hacked.

The family of 14-year-old Tay Tian (Lil Tay) have reportedly issued a statement  saying that she and her brother Jason are, in fact, alive.

“I want to make it clear that my brother and I are safe and alive, but I’m completely heartbroken, and struggling to even find the right words to say,” she said in a statement provided by her family to TMZ.

Yesterday, as rumours swirled, Tay’s former manager refused to confirm or deny her death and did not comment on the Instagram post while speaking to Insider.

The death announcement on Instagram had referred to the rapper as Claire Hope, and said that her and her brother’s deaths were under investigation.

“My legal name is Tay Tian, not Claire Hope”, the family statement said.

Meta, owners of Instagram, declined to comment to ABC America on whether there was a hack reported on Tay’s account.

The Vancouver Police Department and the medical examiner in Los Angeles said it had no reports of the death of anyone named Claire Hope and that they were not investigating the case.
