Kate Middleton has issued an apology following the release of an edited Mother’s Day family image.
An edited photo of the Princess of Wales pictured with her three kids was released by Kensington Palace and caused online speculation and concern for Middleton.
The image was removed from international news agencies including, Associated Press, Reuters and Getty after concerns were raised about image manipulation.
Kensington Palace shared the image on Sunday, marking Middleton’s first official appearance since she underwent abdominal surgery almost two months ago.
Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months.
Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day. C

Middleton said she edited the image and apologised for the confusion on X last night.
“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing,” she said. “I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused.”
Social media users also pointed out the multiple flaws on the digitally altered image with missing parts of clothing and blurred lighting.
