Journalist with The Australian newspaper, George Megalogenis, will give a guest lecture at La Trobe University on Monday 2 April.
George will talk about his new book, The Australian Moment, where he argues that the Australian economic system has left us in an excellent position to deal with the demands of globalisation when compared to the United States and the United Kingdom.
George spent 11 years in the Canberra press gallery between 1988 and 1999 before returning to Melbourne as a senior writer at The Australian.
He is also the author of ‘Faultlines: race, work and the politics of changing Australia’, ‘The Longest Decade’. In the wake of Australia’s 2010 Federal Election he also wrote a Quarterly Essay titled ‘Trivial Pursuit: Leadership and the End of the Reform Era’.
George’s lecture will be from 4-5pm in the Eastern Lecture Theatre 1.
All students are welcome to attend.
