The devastating poll for Labor on day 13 came from the Australian Financial Review, which looks at eight of the nations’ most marginal electorates, showing Labor will struggle to take any seats off the Coalition on September 7 to offset its own expected losses.

Quote of the day

Today we turned to the Labor party for our Quote of the Day, and Prime MInister Kevin Rudd’s “we build up…they cut down remarks.”
Admittedly, such rhetoric is part and parcel with any sort of political campaign, but KRudd’s remarks had us harkening back to a famed Kane/Kodos scene in The Simpsons.
Copyright means we can’t post the video here, but be sure to trawl around the depths of YouTube for yourself.
In the meantime, Rudd will continue twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom.
Tweet of the day
"Notwithstanding the dramatic increases in man-made CO2 emissions over the last decade, the world’s warming has stopped." Tony Abbott, 2009

We’ve changed our rules again slightly, but it didn’t seem right to be almost two weeks into the campaign without featuring Crikey’s resident King of Snark, Bernard Keane.
In the above tweet, he points out a misstep made by Tony Abbott back in 2009.
Ah, the golden age of social media, when every stumbling, bumbling remark is recorded and retweeted by the masses.
