Richmond captain Trent Cotchin has warned his team mates that he doesn’t want a ‘premiership hangover’ once next season commences.
Enjoying the premiership celebrations at Punt Road Oval yesterday in front of the ‘Tiger Army’ Cotchin says he has a greed, which ultimately comes with premiership success.
“The conversation we’ve had all year is that our best footy is ahead of us,”Cotchin told The Age.
Saturday’s Grand Final “was an outstanding performance from each and every player, but there’s so much more improvement in us.
“If you spoke to the majority of our group, it’s a greed, but it’s not an arrogant greed. It’s just a willingness to get better. That’s a big part of our culture.”
In a massive improvement from last year where the Tigers finished 13th, and after multiple seasons of finishing in a frustrating ninth place just missing the finals, Richmond coach Damien Hardwick has said he’ll enjoy the success of the clubs first flag since 1980.
“These things don’t come along very often.” Hardwick told the Age.
“We’re just going to enjoy it for what it is. We’ve embraced the whole finals series this year. We’ll embrace it for what it is now, and when it’s time to get back to work, we’ll get back to work. But we’ll be like the supporters – we’ll enjoy this one.”
