It’s with great pleasure we announce former ABC foreign correspondent Zoe Daniel will be visiting La Trobe next week.
Zoe had originally planned to be a vet but when her science teacher suggested she should do something she was better suited to; she found her calling as a journalist.
Her career started in 1993, working as a regional radio producer in Adelaide’s ABC office. She worked for a number of years in ABC’s rural department as a journalist as well as a presenter of ABC’s the Country Hour in Victoria.
In 2005 and 2006, she was the ABC’s Africa correspondent, then went on to be the south east Asia correspondent, where she spent 2009 covering the Khmer Rouge war crimes trials from Phnom Penh in Cambodia.
Zoe’s new memoir, Storyteller (ABC Books), documents how she has managed to work as a foreign correspondent, settle her family into a new country, and be a mother to her two children – and provides a fascinating insight into the politics and history of South East Asia.
The details for Zoe’s talk are:
Date: Monday, May 12
Time: 4.00pm
Place: ELT 3
All welcome.
